There is only one engine and transmission choice available for the 2022 Trax, but Chevrolet has chosen the drivetrain wisely. The Trax utilizes an extremely fuel-efficient 1.4L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine. Despite its diminutive size, this engine makes 155 horsepower, plenty to pull the relatively light Trax through city traffic with its 6-speed automatic transmission. Its EPA rating of 24 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway is excellent for an all-wheel drive capable SUV. Buyers are offered a choice of two different trim levels as well as the option of front- or all-wheel drive. The LS trim is relatively basic, the LT trim is the highest available trim for the Chevrolet Trax. Buyers will likely be surprised by the level of standard equipment that comes on the base LS. An infotainment system with a 7-inch touchscreen, Wi-Fi hotspot technology, remote keyless entry, power windows and door locks, driver lumbar support, Bluetooth, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto connectivity, two USB ports and 16-inch alloy wheels. The LT trim presents a more aggressive look, with several cosmetic enhancements that include additional exterior chrome trim, roof rails and a painted lower skid plate applique. The LT trim also includes heated exterior mirrors, cruise control, SiriusXM satellite radio, an AC power outlet and leatherette upholstery for the seats. Safety features such as 10 airbags, a rearview camera, 4-wheel anti-lock brakes, traction control and StabiliTrak electronic stability control are standard while some optional safety features include Rear Cross-Traffic Alert, Side Blind Zone Alert and Rear Park Assist.
